DRAFT – needs review by a Jamaican attorney before publishing. This text is a starting point only and is not legal advice.
Last updated: [date]. These Terms of Use govern your use of the Jamaica Mathematics Network (“JMN”, “we”), jamaicamathsnetwork.com. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them.
1. Who can join
JMN is for students, teachers, lecturers, researchers, organisations and recruiters with an interest in mathematics. Students under 18 may join only with the consent of a parent or guardian, which we request by email during sign-up. Organisations and recruiters must give accurate details and may be asked to verify them.
2. Your account
Keep your login details private and tell us at jamaicamathsnetwork@gmail.com if you think your account has been misused. You are responsible for what is posted from your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
3. Fees
Student membership has a one-time fee (currently US$5) payable after your student ID is checked. Paid plans, job posts and featured listings are charged at the prices shown on the Plans page at the time of purchase. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or stated otherwise.
4. Services and bookings between members
Tutoring and other services are offered by independent members, not by JMN. JMN does not employ service providers and is not a party to agreements between members, although a commission may apply to bookings made through the site. Members must check qualifications, prices and arrangements for themselves. Sessions with students under 18 should take place with a parent or guardian’s knowledge.
5. Acceptable use
Do not post anything unlawful, abusive, harassing, discriminatory, sexually explicit, misleading or spam; do not contact minors for any purpose other than legitimate maths help through the site; do not share other people’s personal information; do not post content you do not have the right to share; do not use JMN to sell unrelated products. Help Desk answers should guide learning – not complete graded work or exams for students.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post. You give JMN a non-exclusive licence to display it on the site and to share it within the network so it can be seen as intended. You can delete your content at any time.
7. Reporting and moderation
Use the Report button on any post, service or profile to tell us about a problem. We may remove content or restrict accounts at our discretion, especially to protect young people.
8. Links and third-party content
JMN shows news, research and job listings from other websites and may link to third-party sellers (for example Amazon). We are not responsible for their content, products or practices.
9. Liability
JMN is provided “as is”. To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for losses arising from your use of the site or from dealings between members.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these terms and will post the new version here. These terms are governed by the laws of Jamaica. Questions: jamaicamathsnetwork@gmail.com.
